Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use The London Weight Loss Clinic website. This statement explains how accessible we are, the standards we follow, and how to get in touch if something isn't working for you.

Last reviewed: 26 April 2026

Our commitment

The London Weight Loss Clinic (“we”, “us”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards to make our website easier to use.

We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard recommended by the W3C and aligned with the UK Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

What we've done

The following accessibility features are currently in place across tlwlc.co.uk:

  • A keyboard “skip to main content” link visible on focus.
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields).
  • Colour palette tuned to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Honouring the user's prefers-reduced-motion system setting — animations are disabled for users who request reduced motion.
  • Descriptive labels on all icon-only buttons and links (search, cart, social media, password show/hide, navigation back, etc.).
  • Accessible names on form fields and progress indicators (BMI calculator inputs, quiz progress bar).
  • Meaningful alternative text on images and decorative images marked as such.
  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) so screen-reader users can navigate easily.
  • Proper page titles and language attribute (lang="en") on every page.

How we test

We test our website using a combination of automated and manual methods:

  • Automated testing: the axe-core accessibility engine runs against every page during development.
  • Manual keyboard testing: we navigate the site using only the keyboard (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Arrow keys) to make sure every feature is reachable and operable.
  • Screen-reader checks: we test with VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) and NVDA (Windows) on key journeys (homepage, treatments, quiz, checkout, dashboard).
  • Browser zoom: we verify the site remains usable at 200% zoom in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
  • Reduced-motion testing: we verify animations are suppressed when the system “reduce motion” preference is enabled.

Known issues

We are aware of the following issues and are actively working to resolve them:

  • Some embedded third-party widgets (for example Trustpilot reviews) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We continue to feed back to those providers and review alternatives.
  • The chat assistant widget is provided by a third-party platform; we are working with the provider to ensure full keyboard and screen-reader compatibility.
  • Some longer-form content (older blog posts and recipes) may not yet have been audited for heading order or descriptive link text. We are reviewing this content systematically.

If any part of the site is not working for you, please tell us — we treat accessibility feedback as a priority.

Reporting accessibility problems

We're always looking to improve. If you have any feedback or you find an accessibility barrier, please get in touch:

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 working days and to provide a substantive response within 10 working days.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations in the United Kingdom. If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical specification

The accessibility of our website relies on the following technologies, used in combination with web browsers and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your device:

  • HTML5
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript (React / Next.js)

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
